Statement:
Butterflies are some of the most colorful insects on the planet. The diversity of their wing colors and patterns has not only inspired human artistic expression but it has also made these insects prominent study systems in biology. For example, butterflies have become leading model inscts for the study of evolution and development, particularly of how wings are patterned. Butterflies are beautiful, flying insects with large scaly wings. Like all insects, they have six jointed legs, 3 body parts, a pair of antennae, compound eyes, and an exoskeleton. The three body parts are the head, thorax (the chest), and abdomen (the tail end). Butterfly body is covered by tiny sensory hairs. Butterflies can only fly if their body temperature is above 86 degrees. Butterflies sun themselves to warm up in cool weather. As butterflies age, the color of the wings fades and the wings become ragged.
Butterflies constitute one of the major symbol in art with a significant number of major artists .
